Safety

Rudy L. Hawkins Electrical Contractor, Inc. understands the importance of safety in the workplace, and on-the-job. Providing a drug-free, healthy, safe and hazard free work environment, as well as an on-going company sponsored Safety Program is our #1 Priority. We employ a full time Safety Inspector / Trainer / Coordinator and provide state of the art O.S.H.A compliant, training for both new and veteran employees. Our Safety Director also coordinates routine safety and equipment inspections at all of our job sites, and holds weekly safety meetings. Our 28-Step Training Video, as well as our Daily Plan of Action, ‘Toolbox Talks’ and Observation Reporting are only a few of the resources that we utilize to help us maintain a consistently low Experience Modification Rate (EMR).

Each of our work trucks/vans are equipped with Emergency First Aid supplies as well as state-of-the-art Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and every member of our field personnel team is trained in First Aid and Adult CPR.

We constantly evaluate and implement new programs and training strategies in an effort to reach our ultimate goal of totally eliminating occupational injuries. We believe that this goal is realistic and achievable. Over the past three years we have maintained a phenomenal record having accumulated over 750,000 work hours with no lost time from work.

At Rudy L. Hawkins Electrical Contractor, Inc. we fully embrace and routinely practice the concept of “giving back” and sharing some of the important safety lessons that we have learned over the years. Our own Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), and National Electric Code (NEC) Instructors frequently facilitate training to outside organizations in our community such as local EMS personnel, Fire Marshalls and Inspectors. We also collaborate with the Virginia chapter of the Associated General Contractors, Inc.
